About the Role
Your presence in the gyms matters. You will spend several days each week visiting locations, connecting with teams, observing classes, and supporting your Directors in real time. You will bring clarity, positivity, and a strategic mindset to everything from enrollment and retention to labor management and member experience.
Above all, you help create an environment where leaders feel supported, kids feel celebrated, and families feel connected to something truly special.
What You’ll Do
- Lead, coach, and mentor Gym Directors and Program Directors to build strong, engaged, high-performing teams that exhibit ownership of their location.
- Create a collaborative, uplifting culture across your district where leaders feel supported, challenged, and inspired.
- Provide ongoing training, feedback, and development to help each leader grow into the strongest version of themselves.
- Encourage accountability, ownership, and communication across all gyms.
- Oversee daily operations across 6–12 gyms, ensuring each delivers an exceptional program, safe environment, and warm family experience.
- Partner with Gym Directors to maintain operational excellence, brand consistency, and adherence to Somersault processes.
- Be present in the gyms at least 3 days per week, visiting locations based on business need, performance, and support priorities. This is not a remote position and presence in the gyms will vary week to week.
- Step in to assist with in-gym needs when necessary, including teaching classes or covering callouts during emergency staffing gaps.
- Understand and manage key district KPIs, guiding each gym toward achieving targets for:
- Revenue growth
- Enrollment & retention
- Labor percentage of revenue
- Conversion rates
- EBITDA and profitability
- Hold weekly Touch Bases with each Gym Director to review performance, opportunities, and growth plans.
- Use data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities and translate them into clear, actionable strategies.
- Actively share best practices and partner with other District Managers to support Somersault's growth as a whole.
- Ensure every gym maintains exceptional hospitality standards and family engagement.
- Support Gym Directors in building strong community relationships and driving enrollment.
- Partner on local marketing efforts, sales coaching, and pipeline development.
- Support recruiting, selecting, and developing leadership talent within your district.
- Foster a consistent Somersault culture rooted in growth, ownership, warmth, and fun.
- Champion communication and collaboration across your gyms and with Somersault’s Executive Team.
- You love lifting others up and watching leaders grow under your guidance.

- 2+ years of leadership experience in a multi-unit, fitness, youth enrichment, hospitality, retail, or service-based environment; experience as a Gym Director or equivalent leadership role strongly preferred
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop managers and teams toward strong performance and engagement
- Strong understanding of business operations, including revenue growth, enrollment, retention, labor management, and profitability
- Comfortable using KPIs and business data to identify trends, solve problems, and create actionable plans
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to connect with team members, families, and community partners
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple locations, priorities, and competing business needs
- Hands-on leadership style with a willingness to spend significant time in gyms supporting teams and stepping in when needed
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset
- Passion for working with children and creating positive experiences for families
- Ability to travel between locations within the district at least 3 days per week
- Must be able to meet the physical requirements of an active gym environment, including standing for extended periods and occasionally lifting up to 50–60 pounds
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, but equivalent leadership experience will be considered
